Religious Icons Mexico City

To reach the entrance to the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Mexico City you must first pass through a market with stalls filled to the brim with religious icons of all types.

You’ll even find T-shirts with religious images.

At this time of year the market will be bustling with worshippers headed to the Basilica for Semana Santa (Holy Week).

    Reminds me of Fatima in Portugal. The Las Vegas of catholicism. To think it used to be a simple meadow.

    I'm in guatemala right now and it's alllllllllll about the religious icons. It's semana santa, I don't know if you ever had the grand experience of being here for this holiday. but i'll say it's a photographers dream come true. I'll be posting it once i get back to costa rica and get organize the 600 pictures and videos i took:)

    Hope you enjoyed your Easter in Mexico. Some day I hope to do the pilgrimage from Atotonilco to San Miguel. I have taken so many photos of religious icons in Mexico...they are beautiful, and often strange. Be safe.
