Taking public transport when traveling overseas is not only an economical way to get around but a great way to people watch. Public buses in many countries are also art on wheels.
I wonder what the advertisement on the side of this bus in Beijing says.
The public buses in Guatemala are brightly painted former school buses.
So are the buses in Panama City, which have been nicknamed Red Devils.
How often do you take public buses when traveling?

I like traveling by public bus in new cities. It's certainly great for people-watching.
Traveling by the local transporation system is a must to get a real sense of place. I always try to take a bus or trolley wherever I go. Jamaican buses and Brasilian buses are really wild as well!
Hi all,
Thanks for commenting. I agree that it's a must to get a feel for a destination.
yes, the buses are great for people watching and usually the drivers are helpful. Living in costa rica the past year without a car, i have had plenty of time on public buses...they unfortunately aren't anything special to look at, but they have helped me learn my way around the city.
As you well know ...pretty much all the time here in Mexico!! like that red bus shot particularly..

Lovely pictures! I always take public buses. Not only are they cheap, but they are also real. :)
