Street Scenes: San Pedro, Guatemala

The small village of San Pedro on the shores of Lake Atitlan in Guatemala sits beneath a volcano of the same name.

Its population is mainly Mayan people. San Pedro’s tranquil setting is popular with travelers, particularly the hacky sack set. Many come here to learn Spanish or just live cheaply for a spell and enjoy the scenery.

Hi! Beautiful picture:) I'll be moving to Guatemala, Antigua, in 10 days and can't wait to go back to San Pedro and Lago Atitlan with my family!

Lovely shot...far lovelier than the actual place as I remember it at Easter...totally dominated by the dropouthippydippy set...Hard to spot a local...

I love the folkloric look of this scene.

Marina, All the best with the move!

Jen, Rajesh, Cuckoo and Flygirl, Thank you.

Kristine, I'd love to go back as well.

Gil, glad to hear you are still on holiday.

Catherine, You crack me up. Did you have to dodge the hacky sacks?
